Happy New Year


Young Minds, Happy New Year. I hope it’s not too late for the new year.

Many people want this year to be different than the previous one. Everyone went through many ups and downs during last year. If we look at the previous year, there were many downs like unemployment and psychological problems such as anxiety, depression, or maybe suicidal thoughts. If we see the positive aspect of coronavirus, some of us spent more time with family. We had a chance to get to know ourselves better, both physically and psychologically. Therefore, it is important to embrace yesterday’s good to move forward and be productive in this present year.

As far as I am concerned, I have done a lot of thinking about my future and tried doing some Zumba and some strength exercises at home. Some of the things I am thinking to work on this year to improve my self-care:

Stronger- This year, I am planning to get stronger both physically and mentally. Therefore I set a goal to do the gym regularly. Consistency is key. I decided to focus more on my body shape, as a healthy body facilitates a healthy mindset.

Phone- This year, I’ll try to spend less time using the phone and prioritizing family. I will try not to check my phone after every 5 mins and focus on other extracurricular activities.

Organized- I am kind of a messy person and like to go with a flow. To change this, I have decided to organize everything and write everything up in a calendar or a planner to make a schedule about any event that comes up and follow it with dedication. This will help me with time management and planning.

Set up a budget- It’s tough for me to say no to myself. If I like something, I’ll buy it and to soothe that guilt; I’ll make a budget plan for next month and try not to spend extra money. Doing this will make me realize where I am spending lavishly and try to avoid it. This will be difficult because I never stick to my budget plan, and everything messes up again. This is the most important thing I have to work on this year.

If I’m not able to work on it all, at least I can try working on one. Working towards my achievement throughout the year will help me be more positive and have a purpose in life. Personally, I think purpose can really help people grow and remain sane in these weird, unsettling times that we are living in.
