Hello Brilliant Minds,

With Christmas just around the corner, our global situation leaves many people to celebrate in less than ideal conditions.

1. Find Ways to Decorate

No matter how unique 2020 has been, Christmas is here, so take advantage of the season and get festive. There are numerous DIY decorations you can try alone or as a family to light up your living space and put you in a festive mood. Many are posted on Youtube or TikTok. You could also buy affordable decorations from nearby stores, like Dollarama, to spice up for the holidays.

2. Tips on Gift-Giving

Gifts during the holidays and especially this year need to be carefully thought out. Usually, your friends have dropped hints throughout the year about what they wanted but if that’s out of your budget, get them something you know they’ll both need and appreciate. Remember, it’s the thought that counts.

3. Connect with People Around You.

If the pandemic has effectively ruined your plans, sentencing you to a boring holiday, still find ways to keep positive. You can still FaceTime friends and family or celebrate the season with any friends around you. Try to make the most of a bad situation, no matter how hard it may be.

4. For those Travelling

If you are travelling during the pandemic, my prayers are with you. Many international students may travel back to their home countries to spend time with their families. In any case, make sure you get tested before travelling and quarantine accordingly upon arrival. Also, make sure to carry your face masks and sanitizers with you on your flight. Your safety is your responsibility.

Despite everything, Christmas is finally here, and 2021 is right around the corner. Make sure to enjoy this holiday and have the best celebration! And no matter what, remember to prioritize your mental health!
